On the Water
 One of many exciting activities you can treat yourself to while vacationing in
the North Carolina Mountains is spending time on the various rivers in the area.
Brevard NC and the surrounding area is known as “the land of the waterfalls” for
good reason. One of the advantages of the untouched natural beauty in the Blue
Ridge Mountains is the variety of outdoor activities afforded by the mountains
and rivers. When rafting or canoeing in the NC wilderness you can truly enjoy
the peace and tranquility afforded by nature without any distractions. The
French Broad River and it’s many tributaries flow through
Transylvania County
and offer some amazing views of the Pisgah national Forest. The French Broad
begins in Transylvania County, Henderson County, and parts of Asheville, where
it meets the Swannanoa River. Parts of the river feature challenging whitewater
rapids that are perfect for adventure lovers, while other sections are mild and
perfect for a peaceful day of canoeing or kayaking.
There are a number of guide shops and adventure outfitters in the area that offer
NC whitewater rafting trips as well as guided canoe, kayak, or tubing trips.
Regardless of if you’re a thrill seeker or just looking for a quiet relaxing way
to spend the day in the mountains enjoying our rivers and
